It’s only been six months since Amy Winehouse went to a better place. Memory of her still inspire- Jean Paul Gaultier had a fashion show where models were made to look like Amy with wigs, cigarets, blonde highlights, black eyeliner... JPG said: "What she stands for, above all, is uniqueness. Both in music and the way she dressed, she mixed a great many influences to create her style. It was great. It is very joyous.”
But the show wasn't accepted very well. Amy's father, Mitchel said : “The family was upset to see those pictures, they were a total shock,” he said. “We’re still grieving for her loss, and we’ve had a difficult week with the six-month anniversary of Amy’s death. To see her image lifted wholesale to sell clothes was a wrench we were not expecting or consulted on. We’re proud of her influence on fashion but find black veils on models, smoking cigarettes with a barbershop quartet singing her music in bad taste. It portrays a view of Amy when she was not at her best, and glamorizes some of the more upsetting times in her life. That’s upsetting for her family.”
Mitch also expressed anger at the fact that Gaultier had not promised to donate some of the profits to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which helps drug and alcohol-addicted youth in the UK. Lot of controversy followed and still follows this show, but what do you think?
